Latest Information

The Western China (Sichuan) Import Expo & International Investment Fair (hereinafter referred to as WCIIF) shall cover a confirmed exhibition area of 13,000m2 and an expected exhibition area of 22,000m2, or 21% and 35% of the total exhibition area, according to the Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affairs. The supporting events including the 2nd International Forum on Intelligent Vehicle and the 2nd China (Chengdu) International General Aviation Industry Development Summit Forum are also under preparation in a vigorous manner.

As a new exhibition platform, what are the attractions of the WCIIF?

        Considerate

Providing services and supports for business cooperation

“We plan to organize a group of Italian service enterprises and organizations at the Service Trade Hall of the WCIIF to provide one-stop consultation and services to Sichuan enterprises willing to establish business relations with Italian partners or invest in Italy,” said Mr. Sergio Maffettone, Consul-General of the Consulate General of the Republic of Italy in Chongqing at the end of May, “I will go back to Italy next month to look for appropriate enterprises and participants for the WCIIF”.

Vigorously developing the 5 emerging leading service industries is a key strategy set forth by Sichuan to promote its industrial development. The Service Trade Hall of the WCIIF not only attracts Mr. Maffettone greatly, but also Wang Ying, the Secretary General of the Sichuan Chamber of Commerce for Im-Export (SCOCIE). Taking the hall as a highlight of the event, Wang praised it “capable of providing services information of international trade and cooperation for enterprises without going abroad”. “We are actively coordinating with Sichuan Association of Banks (SCAOB) to establish a financial exhibition area jointly at the Service Trade Hall,” according to related source from the Sichuan International Exhibition Co., Ltd. The financial exhibition area shall display overseas financial service products and programs while provide financial support for international trade and cooperation between enterprises. “The establishment of a special financial exhibition area fully demonstrates the philosophy and orientation of the WCIIF putting service first,” said Deng Xiang, Associate Dean at School of Economics, Sichuan University.

Zhong Bo, CEO of XGIMI, expresses great interest in the WCIIF. Describing the event as “considerate”, he said “looking at the layout of the venue, I know we can find the critical information and support for our international business in the WCIIF”.

Matching

Bringing in the most advanced technology and equipment

Apart from the considerate services, the WCIIF has put great efforts in matching industries.

The International Chamber of Commerce in Sichuan Province Machinery Industry (SICCMI) eyes for the Advanced Technologies and Equipment Hall. “There are already 5 or 6 enterprises applied for the WCIIF,” according to Qu Guangyi, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the SICCMI. Establishment of the Advanced Technologies and Equipment Hall not only facilitates overseas machinery and equipment manufacturers tapping potential markets in China, but also promotes the exchanges and interactions among leading players of the industry.

There is another pavilion matching for industries of Sichuan at the WCIIF – the Finished-vehicles and Spare Parts Hall. The Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affairs and the Telematics Industry Application Alliance (TIAA) shall jointly hold the First China Intelligent Enterprise Technology Expo, covering 5,000m2 of the pavilion.

The expo during the WCIIF has initiated participant attraction activities in the middle of May. “Tsinghua University, Chang'an Automobile and Pateo among others have announced to show their driverless cars and new concept intelligent vehicles,” according to Pang Chunlin, Secretary-General of the TIAA.

“Although the automobile industry has witnessed rapid growth over the past few years, the matching rate of relevant accessories is still inadequate, which impedes the driving effects of vehicle manufacturing on economy,” said related official at the Sichuan Commission of Economy and Information Technology. The Finished-vehicles and Spare Parts Hall shall serve as a communication and matching platform for vehicle and accessories manufacturers in Sichuan, reducing the procurement costs for vehicle manufacturers and improving the matching rate of local accessories and spare parts.

Furthermore, the supporting events including the 2nd International Forum on Intelligent Vehicle, the 2nd China (Chengdu) International General Aviation Industry Development Summit Forum and the 2nd China (Western) FPD Summit shall also be held.

The event shall allow full play to its function as a platform of opening-up,” said Wang Xiaoqi, Secretary General at the Research Centre for Opening-up (Sustainable Development) of the Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences.

The Hiroshima·Sichuan Economic Exchange Promotion Affairs Liaison Office has been extremely busy recently in preparation for the demonstration of friendly cooperation course of Hiroshima and Sichuan at the WCIIF. Zhang Xiaoni, the Director Assistant at the Office said “our office exists to enhance the cooperation between Hiroshima and Sichuan, and the WCIIF is just perfect for us”. “This year marks the 34-year bilateral cooperation between Chengdu and Montpellier. In-depth cooperation has been achieved in education, healthcare and other fields. We expect to broaden our cooperation scope via the WCIIF,” Li Xiaoyu, head of the Maison de Montpellier à Chengdu also planned to introduce and promote Montpellier at the Sister City Hall.
