The Western China (Sichuan) Import Expo and International Investment Fair (the “Import Expo” for short) is about to be held on October 23-27 in Chengdu for the first time. Yin Li, Deputy Secretary-General of CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Director of the Propaganda Department of CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, presided over a publicity working conference in the afternoon of June 11, when the preparations for the Import Expo were reported and the publicity work discussed and planned.

As Mr. Yin noted, this year would be a bye year for the Western China International Fair (WCIF). Thus, according to the work arrangement of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, an Import Expo would be organized to shore up the confidence of the investors and stimulate the market consumption under the pressure of declining economy. He called for the provincial propaganda department to take the lead in promoting this exhibition and arrange for relevant departments to implement it with the active support from the news media, ensuring more outcomes and greater influence.

    ZouJixiang, Acting Vice Minister of the Propaganda Department of CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, Director of the Foreign Propaganda Office of CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee (an information office of the provincial government) and Head of the Network Information Office, has made arrangements for the publicity and media coverage of the Import Expo. The Director-General of Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affairs Zheng Li has reported the progress of the work. The state-controlled media in Sichuan and the province-governed news agencies have put forward their ideas and suggestions on the publicity work. The Import Expo, they said, would be given in-depth reports to create a favorable atmosphere for its success based on the models of the “One Belt One Road” project and the WCIF.

     Other attendants included Li Xiaojun, Deputy Director of the Foreign Propaganda Office of CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, Chen Yanfu, Secretary-General & Office Administrator of the Propaganda Department of CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, and principals from each sector and office of the Propaganda Department of CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and the News Propaganda Department of Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affairs.
